What is Challenger Sports League?
The success of the Greensboro Challenger League reflects the extraordinary collaboration of parents and our greater community. Through our partnership with YSL (The Young Men's Service League) and our other dedicated volunteers, we are able to continue to offer sports every season. The Greensboro Department of Parks & Recreation works with The Arc of Greensboro to utilize Pomona Park (off of Clifton Road) on Saturday mornings during the Spring and Fall, as well as a field for football and cheerleading, and a gymnasium for adaptive basketball during the Winter. Participants may also enjoy bowling on the first and third Mondays of each month, facilitated by arcBARKS Director Andrea Smith.
The Arc of Greensboro provides the essential administrative and support functions. Program costs are paid with donations from the participating families along with proceeds from The Arc's fundraising efforts. More than 130 special young athletes enjoy the benefits of physical activity, friendly competition, and opportunity to socialize with their peers.
