to private, community-based nonprofit organizations. North Carolina's Community Alternatives Program (CAP) for Persons with Mental Retardation /
Developmental Disabilities (MR/DD) – funded with Medicaid dollars – offers access to a wide range of home and community-based services for individuals
with intellectual disabilities, especially those who would otherwise require care in an intermediate care facility (ICF). In accordance with government
regulations, CAP service plans must be coordinated by well-qualified case management organizations in collaboration with the client and their family.The
