Challenger 2011 Fall Baseball will kick off their season on Saturday, Sept. 10th.
Challenger fall baseball play for five consecutive weeks of fun on Saturdays. Fall season will kick off date will also host a Special Remembrance Event on that first Saturday. Deadline to register is Sept. 1, 2011. Please register early to ensure a place for your athlete! Challenger League is open to persons with disabilities between the ages of 5-22. The Arc of Greensboro received a $15,000 grant from the Kathleen and Joseph M. Bryan Community Enrichment Venture Grant initiative for the creation of an Employment and Leadership program, designed to develop skills related to leadership for Developmentally Disabled (DD) and Intellectually Delayed (ID) adults. The development of skills will allow the participants to establish a business baking doggie treats. Participants will be in an instructional, production, marketing and sales learning environment. Project Search Grant
The Arc of Greensboro has been selected to be a provider for an innovative national model project that provides skill training and work experience for young adults with disabilities ages 18-21. Students will be taught to use public transportation, participate in monthly progress meetings to define their career goals, and plan necessary steps to achieve those goals. The ultimate goal upon program completion is competitive employment utilizing the skills learned on the internships and throughout the program.
